A buddy on mine has a mitchell 602AP, he's kinda attached to the reel and ask me if it can be fished on say 20lb or 30lb line.  I'm having a little trouble finding parts for it, anyone have a good source for parts or info on it?  It looks like an old penn but in white.  Thanks in advance.

i found these photos on a south african site.  check it out it you have time.  they're a great bunch of guys and they've got a great website.  here's the link to the post with the mitchell photos http://www.sealine.co.za/view_topic.php?id=1008&forum_id=39 and here are the photos.

i've got some of these in the garage somewhere.  the drags are tiny and the frame are prone to cracking because of their age.  figure 20# mono and 3-4 pounds of drag at the very most.  what kind of parts are you looking for?  alan

he asked me if it was possible to "beef it up" in a way that would make it able to fish heavier line (30lbs?). Bottom line he has seen the things that can be done with the penns and ask if there was an upgrade for his mitchell

you'd have to match up some drag washer from the list of penn ht-100's, or cut something custom.  i think it will take a set of three #6-155's inside the main gear and a cut down #6-133 under the main gear

Irish Jigger

Great little French made reel, nothing to rust, clicker always works. Should fish 30lb line ok. Very popular reel over here.  Should be parts around. If you are stuck please let me know what parts you need and I will check out my local tackle shop.

A few parts on Ebay for a 602

Nothing to do with me just came across them and remembered this post
Nothing makes a fish BIGGER than almost being caught! .

These reels take Squidder drag washers (006 060). They fit perfectly. And they do seem smooth. But there's nothing you can do to bump up the drag enough to fish anything heavier than about 20#. i see some in Alaska that people try to use for halibut. It's not a good idea...
