I got my reel back today after 8 weeks, they lost it  ::)
they advertised 10kg of drag,i could only get 3kg.

2 handles are standard.dont like the paddles
15 lb 1st test,no worries
10kgs,no worries
filled bucket to the top,11.38 kgs slowly desended to the floor
ok ill keep it,but
because the spool was near empty with 80lb mono
the bar under the level wind is sharp and
chewed up the mono.(1st pic)
so keep the spool full
this is out of the box after they fixed it.
I didn't touch anything, thought id be sending it back actually.
I don't know if there is any grease and oil.
later,cheers

The happy face on the scale says it all.
I like the fishing rod too... no sense in using those flimsy round fiberglass things, right?

.

wallacewt

aha,the happy face,now i see it.
ive never seen one of those micro rods.
whats their advantage robert?

Robert Janssen

Oh sorry wallace, my mistake- i was thinking of a pic on another thread just prior to yours, in which there was a pic of someone using an improvised fishing rod / crane made of a 2x4 and lifting lead balls... i must've thought that pic was in this thread.

(one of the drawbacks of posting from a cellphone...)

decided to grease and oil today,38deg; outside

out of the box
no oil, grease, tools, schematics
2 handles, paddle and power, nice touch

to take the side plate off, there is a little locking pin, depress it
slide the plastic off it comes into 3 pcs,

so here we go, handle
small screw,   plastic cap , handle nut, handle, handle washer, star, Bellville  cap,2 spring washers, spacer, bearing, spacer, tension cap
,inside  screw, 3 outside screws for side plate, be careful they are loctited in. iar  spacer,
side plate,2 springs, pinion gear, main gear and drag stack,
CAREFUL here!
2 ambassaduer  dogs+2 small dog spacers that go underneath the dogs, white plastic.
I had no schematics so names are anybodies guess ::)
pros
feels strong
big main gear,
extra handle
greased drag
best casting reel ive owned. short distance of course.
easy to work on
cons
not synchronized(i done well)
no clicker,i don't care
to get 20lb of drag you need both feet on the rail
and a pair of stilsons and extended handle
260yds of 50lb braid? i wonder what brand they used.
now the real disappointment was when the reel was in freespool I
could not stop a 40gm lure hitting the ground
tension nut tight,adjustment wheel(inside)on max
I will fix it but for$275 I shoundnt have to.
quantam needs to do their zipper up
I got 170m of .345 4 strand braid,chinese,just to test
also this drag stack?
ceramic washers? look like smoothies to me,need help here
c/f
ss plate washer
2 changes so far
laminated carbon fiber under the main gear
lcf washer on top under the spacer.

open to suggestions to improve the drag
cheers

wallacewt

that is a magnificent effort,
we got some yt kingfish but no dollies.

Rothmar2

Dollies are easy, the yellowfin on the fly are in a league of their own though! Have got a few pix I can put up.
Did the reel perform OK? Or wasn't it lucky enough to be able to prove itself on the kings?

wallacewt

hi rothmar,  never got the chance to use it
im leaving on sunday for a week up north so
weather permitting,it will get a good work out
cheers mate
