Marc, that really looks great!
How do you make cf parts?
Steve
Thanks
Made different jigs like this one to have the right curvature

It's a long process, epoxy takes 24h to cure, then cut, shape for a perfect fit
(http://i717.photobucket.com/albums/ww177/Marc1956/20160412_123050_zps0vpfldgj.jpg) (http://s717.photobucket.com/user/Marc1956/media/20160412_123050_zps0vpfldgj.jpg.html)
Then wrapped, used the jig to squeeze the extra epoxy, insted of vacum bagging

The post is wrapped

The difficult part is the fiber are stiff to make sharp contours, also you have to be very gentle with the fabric when you cut it, fall apart/distorts easily
I over built the space bar, could have used composite material to built the thickness but its all carbon fiber, it's not going anywhere
Still need to built the reel seat in the future using the same method

WHAT...... Wow, those look amazing especially for a black side plate reel.
No washers yet. Money is tied up with Newell side plates offering. I'll ask Lee to cut some for me as my minimum orders is normally 200 per washer.
Thanks guys 8) No problemo Bryan
Cool thing about carbon fiber is that beside being super strong/light, it also looks transparent like you can see trough it
Nice fit

Good on you for doing this. This a great material....Jeff
Came out great looking, nicely done Marc.
Beautiful and skillful. Good job Marq. Dominick
Lovely skillful work Marq - well done :)
Awesome look. Wish I had that skill set.
I wish I had never seen this...now I want one. Just what I need learn how to form carbon fiber. Awesome work! How much did it lighten it up by a couple ounces or more?
I don't imagine it is any lighter because all 5 posts are still being used. One wrapped in CF and 4 in the spacer. It's just that the CF is light and doesn't add much to the total weight. Rudy
Good post Marc, thanks for showing us, strong & light, looks great, cheers Don.
Those look awesome!!! Planning on taking orders???
Peter
Wow!!!!
Marc was doing some great stuff but he has not been around here for a while.
