Is there someone who already did a pre-first use maintenance on a jigging master ocean devil reel?

I would be interested to see pictures of the internals of the new ocean devil jigging master reel. The reason being that I would be only occasionally jigging (2 days a year maximum) and consider buying a modest price and relatively light reel. If I can't find anything what I like I will use a spinner (what most people do) Although the reel must be light and strong it also would need sufficient capacity. As an ocean devil PE6 is only 5 grams heavier than a PE5 and totals 500 gram it seems to match requirements.

Although there are differences between the ocean devil and the powerspel reels they seem to be limited to a knob vs a t bar handle, a more modest lever for the leverdrag, no separate plate for the lever drag fixation but dents in the side plate and of course the single sided drag.
The handle difference is preference, you like it or not and it is probably changeable. The lever is ok and I assume that applies also to the lever fixation (I think)

The drag is maybe different. I'm not so much worried about the drag values itself. For the ocean devil (PE 5 or PE6: 30 lb strike, 50 lb full) it is only slightly less than it is for a powerspell (PE5 or PE6: 35 lb strike 60 lb full)

What puzzles me is that almost the same drag is achieved with a single drag vs the double drag of the powerspell. If that is correct than there might be a different drag system inside the ocean devil.

I'm also a little worried about the longevity of the bearings with the single drag and possible higher sideload pressure on the bearings. I have heard that the housing of the powerspell and ocean devil are identical and that therefore it might be possible to make post purchase  modifications yourself like adding a drag disc and washer but I have no idea whether that is correct. If the bearings would fail quickly under higher loads that could be a solution.

I have no intention to fish the reel higher than 30lb at strike(or maybe less) but do not want to rule out the occasion where it might be temporarily necessary.

let me throw this in, Release Reel's SG. take a look at bryan young's evaluations/break down on this reel.

Mel, thanks.

I have been thinking of the release reel earlier as they seem to are constructed pretty decent. I'm a little hesitant though as I would like the reel to have some spare drag capacity above what will be possibly fished for.

That's the reason why I brought up the JM ocean devil, because it is rated 50# max for a PE5 reel. Now I do not think that it is wise to fish a reel at its max but having a higher maximum drag will give more comfort for the lower figures. Sometimes the drags are so overstated that you cannot use full drag. That is why I would like to see picture of the internals. They do not tell you everything but if they are the same as the JM powespells that already says a lot and it might be possible to convert to two drags later if one turns out not to be enough

I was planning on using 60-65# braid

I do not rule out the release reel yet :)
