Hello everyone,
Been thinking of getting into reel repair as a second income and while searching on the web came across this great site with a lot of great info! Truly don't any experience but like the idea of working with fishing reels.
Researched in hope to find classes but with no luck. Have to ask how everyone here has learned the skills to repair reels? Is there a school/class I'm missing?
Thanks

Flyguy:  I don't know of any schools, but if you can handle a screw driver and have some mechanical ability you can do it and when you get stuck there is plenty of help on this site.  Welcome.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Flyguy: Trick No.1 wipe the grease off your hands and place the spring on with your hands inside a plastic bag.  Dominick

It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Welcome Flyguy! No school, most of us have destroyed a few reels in the beginning and now try to save others from doing the same ;D.
Enjoy your stay, Sal
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

welcome.  yeah, the learning curve is pretty steep at the beginning. alot of it is just "foot bone to ankle bone, ankle bone to leg bone, " etc., but feel free to ask here anytime you get stuck.  photos always help.
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

You have to be prepared to get your hands dirty and take a look at it and the rest falls into place.
