I have several Daiwa TDAs from 2500 to 4000 size and I do all my own reel work. I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having with the TDA 2500 reels. The problem I'm having is the line, braid, is loading more toward the top of the spool and is tapered toward the bottom of the spool. There is even about a slight gap between where the line stops and the bottom of the spool. I don't see any way to adjust the spool position and I believe this is causing the problem I've been having with wind knots. Any idea what might be causing this tapering of the line? Thanks for your help with this.

Welcome Flat-Top, I'm a Penn guy but I'll give it a shot. Does the spool shaft come with a washer? If so, try a thicker or an additional  one. Looks like your spool needs a spacer, it's sitting too low  :-\.
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

That is a good suggestion, but these don't come with washers for adjustment.  I've checked all the paperwork and as far as I can tell there is no adjustment for the spools.  Thanks.

Sal's referring to part #10 (#6E467101).
I reckon he's spot-on - looks like the spool's sitting too low.

I think that is the old style schematic.  Below is the link that matches my reels.  The washer is the same key#, and I'm sure it is in there.  It is a hard plastic washer.  Wonder if it can flatten out over time?  I'm wondering is the "O" ring, #60, that goes on the oscillating gear is missing.  Think I'll tear down the reel and take a look.

x2. Slip any old washer over the spindle to move the spool forward slightly. Experiment with different thickness washers until you get a satisfactory line lay. It's a common problem with fixed spool reels.

I can be a little thick, but I finally got what you are saying.  I need two washers, not one.  Since I don't have extra washers on hand I decided to take the washer out of a Tierra 2500 I don't use.  Funny thing is the Tierra 2500 actually had two washers, one thin and one thick.  I checked the schematic for both reels and they only show one washer.  I then checked my other TDA reels and the 4000A also has two washers.  And only one is shown on the schematic.

I took the thick washer and added it to the TDA 2500A and the line spools much better.  So it looks like I need to figure out the part numbers for the thin and thick washers.  I have several part numbers for what looks like the same washer.  Does anyone have these washers and can you tell me if one of these is about twice as thick as another?

Glad you got it sorted. Brass or stainless steel washers all are ok.  Increase the thickness by using more washers.. Just be careful when removing or replacing the spool as the washers sometimes get stuck to the inside of the spool and are easily lost.

Many times Reel Manufacturers will add or subtract washers (like #10) to level the Spool for line lay..
You will find many of the same Reels with diff number of (#10) washers in them...
they are just a spacer to get the right Spool height.....
You will also find more or less washers in many baitcasters (under the Star drag) to get proper pressure on drag stack...

Just add  according to what works..  Youll be fine..

Thank you everyone for walking me through this.  Looks like I have the issue solved by adding additional spool washers.  Have them on order and will be back in business in a couple of days.
