Buying up these old reels is a crap shoot. The last 12/0 I did with the double dog ended up having a warped spool. I got into this one last night, and the Brass is corroded pretty bad. It does however have a brand new 8 stack! Bonus!

I tried a couple different polishes to clean it up. I ended up using the Mothers Wheel polish again. This stuff works great.
The picture doesn't do it justice.

Ready for re assembly.

The 10/0 is tonight. Think I better take the wife out for Dinner first. ;D

I need to make another attempt at cutting out some hex drags for my 114hlw's. You guys make it look easy.

You've got those reels looking good. It looks like you need another Keta Krank though. I think I finally figured out how to cut the hex drag washers. It only took four reels to get it down. We all don't have Sal's aptitude.  ;D  He makes it look easy. Let me know when you come down next. I want to see you handle those setups with multiple pickups.   Bob

I finally took a piece of scrap stainless. Marked out a hex. Cut it out with a cutoff wheel. Then I hand filed it till it just fits in the gear. I use scissors to cut them out using the guide. I had a few rejects but now they fit like I want. I tried xacto and a razor knife but the scissors work the best for me.

Yes, A template is Key to cutting the Hexes. I have more Keta Kranks. The 10/0 on the right hasn't been rebuilt yet. I tore it open last night and I think it is the most pristine 10/0 I have come across.
Eat your heart out Dominick! ;)

I only had to lightly polish the posts and spool. Gave the bearings a quick acetone dip and cut some drags out of Eric's Carbon fiber .120 sheet. This will be an 8 stack.

This reel has seen very little use.

Greasy Goodness!

Finished Masterpiece! Rolled a 7 on this one! I think I'll leave the stock handle on this Baby!

The reel came out looking good.

I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Looking good Daron, now don't get upset when you need to crack them open again, I know you have a few ;D.
There is a good chance that the boss my make the ss sleeve available to us for those, I just don't know when.
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

I would love to open them back up to put the ss sleeves in. Lee is cutting me some ss dogs for them anyway. Good to hear from you Buddy. Lucca is not on his way to my house, is he? ;)
