Hello,

I'm attempting to repair my first reel ever (Senator 113H). When the reel was given to me, it was hard to crank. I took everything apart, confident that I would be able to reassemble it, thanks to the great tutorials on this website. Sorry if this is a bad explanation: While breaking it down, I noticed that the "key/sleave?" part of the pinion appears to sloped/angled and was wondering if it was supposed to look like that or it was damaged in some way. I tried to look at previous blogs to see if I could tell, but none of the images gave me a definitive answer. I just want to make sure everything is ok before I attempt to reassemble it. Thanks for looking.

Its my first time trying to load photos so I hope it works.

sometimes the ring lifts up a little.  pressing it back down is fine.  otherwise, everything i see here appears proper.
send me an email at alantani@yahoo.com for questions!

Yes,
The taper is normal JC. Look at this post of Sal's Tank Thread. You can see the taper in a close up shot on page 2.http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=3083.15
Check the engagement on the spool just to be sure before you put it back together.
The taper is needed for the spool to engage the pinion when it is turning.
