Cal's Purple - still the #1 choice for reels used during ice fishing?

Is the purple Cal's the best grease to use in reels that are to be used only during winter and ice fishing (static bait fishing for Northern Pike etc)?

I would leave the drag washers dry for this but use Cal's purple spairingly on the gears.
