What line size and type is everyone using on your jigmasters.

Depending on application and how I built it, varies; all have Carbontex kits:

Stock 500's with M or L spools: 25-30lb straight mono, usually Ande, BG or Tightline, for livebaiting or light bottom fishing with bait.

501's with frame frame kits:  50 lb braid, usually PP, with mono or fluoro top shot for jigging.

I think the setup will depend mainly on intended application vs. how close to stock the reel is, clearly there are some Jiggy's out there with full Monte plates, gears, inserts, frames etc. that could probably manage 80 lb braid without hurting too much, and Rothmar's (Chris) SS Jiggy could probably pull the plug out when he is done.

My reel has all the bells and whistles. Tom's plates tiburon frame Alans s/s bridge sleeve and double dog bridge stainless gears as Bryans drag kit. I trying to determine what I should use for line.

Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Lee is it straight hollow or do you have a mono top shot.

Short 25#, 30# and 40# topshots as needed.  I like my mono to break before the Spectra does.

For a stock 500 width jigmaster and similar sized reels I'm running 30lb Momoi Diamond mono since it casts well and breaks at 50lbs+ with 150 yards 80lb braid backing. If I was fishing from a boat or kayak I'd want to run a 99 size and probably 80lb Daiwa J-Braid with a mono topshot.
