Does anyone know where I can get shims for a 113h gear sleeve? I noticed Daron attached a link to McMaster Carr on another post and I suppose I might be able to find the right size there, but if someone has some laying around, or knows where I can find them I would appreciate it. To be clear, I am looking to shim under the gear sleeve to eliminate the side to side play of the handle. The interior diameter should be 5/16" as that will clear the bridge post - and I believe the shim should be about .010 thick.

Thanks!

I think you can use the same ones. Keith?
I would have to tank apart one of my 113H's to see.

Daron, I am not seeing 5/16 id brass shims listed on the mcmaster carr site. I think the 3/8 id will work, they would just have a little room to move around the post. Do you think that would cause wear either on the bridge or gear sleeve over time, or is that little play a non-issue? Thanks!

I was going to call that a Freudian slip, but maybe it's a Tanian slip.

I think the Brass will be fine. Your only other option is to buy the 1/4" and make it bigger or fabricate one.
I'm sure that is what I have in mine. That is why I chose the brass. It is soft.

I'm using a 3/8 ID shim on #98-60 and it works just fine...so I'd think it should work on your #98-320 too. The ones I'm using are Penn parts...Spinfisher drive gear shims...here's a link:

Thanks guys, for your help. I decided to order some brass shims from the McMaster Carr website. I think they will work fine as I can drill out the i.d. or grind down the o.d. to make them work for many different applications. I look forward to eliminating the excess play in several of my reels

Judging by how Daron described those shims they should work just fine as is. I know mine have that same 3/8 ID and they float around a bit...but not enough to cause an issue. I just smear a bit of grease on...so there'd be no more wear than the sleeve riding directly on the bridge. Just remember...only take up excessive play...not all play. 8)
