Would any know how to install small clutch pawl spring retainer they are small round clips that fit over post that the spring goes on I have bent 2 of them so far bnt1227 they are small round with a hole in the middle?

These are not usually disassembled.

Replace the spring and retaining washer. Use a delicate hand on the metal retaining washer or you may end up breaking the plastic post.

Insert clutch plate (1233).

Position the pawl on the spring

Insert the post on the plastic clutch cam into the pawl

Finesse the clutch cam onto the set plate taking care not to dislodge the pawl spring

You will also need to align the "hole" in the clutch plate while doing this.

Then secure with the retaining plate 1303.

Use a deep socket just big enough to fit over the post in diameter.  It will put even pressure all the way around.  Don't rock it side to side you will break the post.  If it won't go on with a push, a sharp wrap will get it started.
