Penn 113hs China hotrodable?

So I just picked up a new Penn 113hs for $47.00. I will be using it to go tile and tuna fishing. How can I get the most longevity out of this reel. I will be putting it on an 8ft Uglystik(stiff as a board). I was also considering putting a roller tip on it. Opinions?

I'm not familiar with the 113hs, but I have hot rodded a lot of senators. 113H up to the mighty 118.
Maybe some other guys can chime in, but you should be able to hot rod this baby like any other 113H.
I have stayed away from the Chinese Senators just because there are so many American made one around. If you want this baby to go the distance, I suggest a stainless sleeve and gears. You can get everything you need right here. I'm sure it will fish fine like it is, but if you want the upgrades, It all cost money. The 113 to have right now is the Tank.

And if your deep dropping on a boat, an all roller rod will do you good. Spool it up with 130 braid and that's all you need. A SS sleeve is a good idea, especially for electric assist.

The Chinese are metric,
The sleeve won't work with the star or other parts and I think the frame is different.

The Chinese reels are not metric. The side plates, spools, & gear sleeves are different where the handle attaches. The other internal parts are interchangeable with American made Penn 113h &113hl. Frames are the same width also. If you are using the Chinese end plates then you have to use the matching Chinese spool. The gear sleeve can be exchanged for an American one to use the h & hl style handle. I hope that some of this explanation is as clear as mud.  If anyone has more questions about the interchangeability between them just ask.      Rudy

I was afraid there would be some differences Stradly. If you want to hot rod. I would sell that hs and get a regular 113H. Personally, I would keep it and just get another American reel, but I buy them up like crazy. You should have no problem getting your 47 bucks back for it on fleabay.
Does the China model have the 5 stack Ht-100's guys?

Yeah they have the exact same parts as the American, except they have a SS pinion 5 stack ht-100 and all

 Side plates & outer rings are 5 screw holes not 8. Main gears are bronze not steel unless someone changed them. Aftermarket aluminum frames will fit with the 3 unused holes covered up by the plates. Hot rodding them is the same as H & HL reels if you use the Chinese spools & plates together. If you use a S/S gear sleeve you will have to use an H style handle & screw. They all use S/S pinion gears.      Rudy
