So I played with the spring pocket a little this morning before the Mom's day festivities commenced and this is how it fits now. Everything seems to work. If you look closely I carved a "pocket" with a ball end mill in the Dremel to hold the spring in. Looks like I will not need to add any solder to the bridge. Should I be concerned with the way the base of the spring bends? Still need a tad more cleanup with a straight bit but happy for now.

As always, advice appreciated.

That looks perfect. Just make sure there is room when the dog is disengaged and not pushing hard on the ratchet.

As old as this thread is. There is nothing like some double dogging to an old Senator.
I haven't seen this one, but the Teacher did a fine job on it. ;)

Time to get back to this project!!

Its finished and working but I never fished it.

Needs a new handle and a few other upgrades.
