Hi
I have an old ABU 20 that I blew up  the drag plate on a big yellowfin.  :(  (I was fishing for mack tuna & Spaniards at the time). I haven't been able to get a spare part in Australia. Does anyone know a source or can I remove the remains of the cork drag and replace with Teflon or similar? what would I use as bonding agent?

Try ABU headquarters in Sweden. They stocked parts for a long time. Wouldn't surprise me if they had some left, unless some greedy sob bought them all.
After that, try Pure Fishing HQ in the USA.

After that, yes... you can apply new cork (try hobby stores and hardware stores for pure cork granulate about 2 mm thick. NOT the cork-rubber blend gasket stuff) with two-part epoxy for example.

Otherwise you could bond cf to the disc instead, but you may lose a lot of drag since the coefficient of friction for cork is much higher. This could in turn perhaps be improved with a bit of mechanical trickery, but that is a later question.
