ATD 12 spool rub problem & solution

I serviced an ATD today that a customer sent to Alan. When in freespool, the spool was scraping the frame really bad. After struggling for a while, Alan thought about it and then suggested that I replace the left and right side plate bearings. That solved the problem! The crazy part is that the bearings felt fine when I went through the reel. So if you are faced with a similar problem, try replacing the bearings even if they feel ok.
