Now guys, if I give advice it is from experience, you don't
have to agree with it, but as said its been tried and tested,
try it, don't try it but please let me speak freely, I don't
type or write just as I feel or make it up, I have 25 years
of solid fishing behind me on the river (salmon/wild brown trout),
shore and boat fishing and if I can help others out so be it, answer,
reply that's your call, but what I say is only good solid advice
that works over many years, its not the only way but it works
and is up to the angler if they want to try it, if not there is no harm done.

Now back on track, a lot of guys find on these reels listed above
and a lot of other fixed spool bail arms closing after/during casting, but
it is not the reels fault but a few easy pointers that will have that
bail arm still solid without a flinch let alone closing on the caster/angler.

Easy fix, if anything penn made these reels with a faultless bail arm
system, il explain, common sense really.

1. Keep the spool/rotor in the low position, few mil up is ok
but no more, if you do it will close quite easily with a bad cast.

2. When you turn the bail arm over make sure there is only an
2 inch play approx. between the bail arm and that wee nipple
that closes it if you were to close it using the handle to re engage it.

3. I see so many casters that basically don't let the rod do the work
when cast, that includes a plug, weight, in fact whatever you cast,
learn to look up out at your target, all above in mind and let your finger
of your main line when the tip is at 1 o'clock approx., slow in fast out,
punch and pull at the end of the cast and not hard at the start.

I have casted over 160 yards with ease on both the 6500ss reel and 750ss
with a 5oz lead.

No 1 and no 2 are the main reason why the bail arm closes, it won't
with all the above in mind.

Hope this helps, ps just bought another penn 750ss with box this time,
that's me complete on these reels as I plan to fish with them, great
reel by penn, and thousands of new and second hand parts still avail.

Oh yes I forgot you will cast further with this in mind.

Tight lines and happy fishing.
we will stick with the above reels in mind.
