Question for you,

why would someone wrap this Fenwick 8' 10" 10wt. with the following specs:

- Lightest Guides
- Smallest Wraps
- Smallest Tip Top
- etc.

This is your wheelhouse, please advise us.

Modern saltwater graphite fly rods have 2 stripping guide, each 5/8" in ID,

How much weight is added if you wrap 1/4" more wrap over each guide?

And current Saltwater models have a tip top ID large enough to pass 4-5 fly line at the same time.

So, this old flexible German is asking, how much weight is being added and how does that effect the casting or catching characteristics of the fly rod??

It affects balance.  The rod fulcrum is at the fore grip.  Everything in front of the fulcrum has to be counterbalanced by weight in the butt section.  If you add an extra gram out near the tip you will need ten grams to counterbalance in the butt.

A rig that is balanced is easier to cast and creates less fatigue in your arms and wrist; be it fly, spinning or baitcasting.
