My the smaller gear in my 203 decided to take a crap on me. My question is how do i remove the shaft sleeve to get the main gear and the smaller level wind drive gear out? It's like the main shaft has a lip or something on it and that sleeve doesn't come up all the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I found pics off of another thread:

It's the oblong bushing that sits right on top of the main gear that i'm having trouble with....

I just slides off the shaft. Is the pinion gear bad.

For the life of me I can't get that sleeve to come off! I tried everything and it gets to where the shaft gets smaller and it just stops and won't budge!

The pinion gear is good, it's the smaller gear that is shelled out (not hardly any teeth left on it)

It is the small gear (with the 3 studs) in this picture that is bad.

I'll try to get pics when I go home for lunch....

There is nothing holding it unless the shaft is bent or the threads are messed up.

The main-shaft can sometimes be slightly flared at the handle flats.

Carefully file back any burrs to original diameter and the maingear should slide off easily.
