As the welded rings were tested in my earlier posting, Lee P. Showed us a hook that he uses that failed his expectations.   Please scroll back and see his hook test.  So as my curiosity got to me I thought of what if.
Shown below is the hook I use the most for a stinger on my halibut rigs.  I was pleasantly surprised as these aren't really a heavy wire hook,  butt at my braid line strength it opened only so slightly.
These tests may not mean much of course.    Butt it's shared knowledge? :)

These hooks are popular in south east Alaska and have a large eye so Snelling with heavy cord is possible.
Another j hook with a long shank is used in some jigs with skirts.   So let's see what a common sst 7/0 jig hook can withstand.  The pull test was using a spring scale and pulling by hand.  I maxed my scale several times.  A hundred pounds of pull and this hook with a smaller gape showed no signs of movement period.
And yes it's a good way to test your knotz too.🎣🚣‍♀️
