Thanks for all of the replies. Does anyone know what the shelf life is? I have a friend that can get me a gallon for $40.00. However I won't use a gallon in a long time.

Grease or oil?
Some oil ends up with sediment when old. Composition of sediment-? Quality of oil after precipitation of sediment-? Anyone know if real old grease oxidizes and decreases in quality?
