Here's a few pics. I believe reel was released for the Japanese market.

Interesting. Be interseting to see the whole AR system too.
Only owned one reel(Diawa GS~late 70's) that has the bottom lever/shaft through the gear box - system and thought it was pretty elaborate, but one of the best AR's I've seen on a spinner.
Is the reel relatively heavy?
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

No, i wouldn't say heavy. This reel came with a plastic spool. I did just pick up a MIG Z 2000 and it came with a aluminum spool.

Thanks for the detailed AR pics, brah. Looks like a sturdy old school Shimano.

hmmm, looks like MLX/MLZ w/ better spool; better A/R, and goofy gear/handle attachment (scroll to bottom for Z1/Z2):

I'm always on the lookout for Shimano spinner-sized brass bushings; A/R ratchets to replace the loathsome one-tooth
self-centering nonsense; and metal spools that might fit original Baitrunners (tinkering w/ a 300 & 450)
THANK YOU for GREAT CANDIDATES!!!   ;D

ooh, forgot to ask:
the Z drag is normal (i.e., washer stack over a HD coil spring) -- correct?
...not that horrible MLX/MLZ "washerless" design, I hope
