Diawa Tournement SS 1300 Anti Reverse

Guys:

Nice little reel...but the anti Reverse is a bit unreliable. Have blown it up on stocked trout and yesterday on the Jersey shore Diawa 1300 SS vs Cow Nose Ray didn't end well

Any upgrades/improvements I can make?

I likely am going to need some new parts the reel was spinning backwards a lot .

Was thinking of maybe making a heavier duty anti reverse spring . It seems the spring runs on friction around the anti reverse Cog

Any help advice will be greatly appreciated.. I was gifted the reel by a dear friend who has since passed so it does have sentimental value. And i have caught everything from stocked trout to moby bass to northern pike on it
