Hello,  Can someone give me some help on repairing an anti-reverse on a Heddon 283?  I'm new so not sure if I'm even doing this right. Thanks Bee

Welcome aboard!

Typically, on older spinning reels like these —

The grease becomes hardened — stopping the spring from interacting with the anti-reverse dog.

And/or — the A/R spring is bad.

Number 3 would be a worn out dog (less likely).

So, use MO's tutorial that Henry posted — then a thorough cleaning, inspection, and grease & oil lubrication.
