Looking For Spot To Fish Near Bradenton, Florida Next Week

I'm not sure if I'll lose any friends by asking this, but we're heading to Bradenton, Florida next week for spring break and I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a fishing spot or two to try.  I don't have a boat so it'll have to be from shore or from a pier.  In the past we've fished from the big piers on Anna Maria island but never really did that well.
