Quote from: Wompus Cat on June 27, 2022, 04:44:46 PMThe ONLY way to get the shaft out on this without removing the Slider would be to cut it in Half.
BTW the main gear comes right out no problemo .

I've never seen that on any older/cheaper Shimano,
unless the pinion bearing is frozen, or it's a rear-drag shaft w/ crossbar
(or really old 80's model w/ permanent spool-cam on shaft)
sometimes, shaft+slider has to be at highest oscillation, for best wiggle-room
Yeah, I keep looking at the first photo that has the rotor/pinion/bearing/supporting collar still in place.  If the rotor and everything else on the spool shaft is removed out the front the shaft has enough clearance to lift clear of the body and slide out rearwards, does it not?

The two bars #'s 115(pins ) go through the Slider that is attached to the shaft # 106 .  On this  Shimano SC66K Stella 5000 .Those Remove from the back of the housing ,then you can turn the Slider over to Remove the two retaining screws, then the shaft and Spool  pulls out  leaving the Rotor attached to the Housing.
Now all that said it doesn't make any difference how you guys can get this out without doing it the way I do but it is the only way I can replace the broken Slider IF I can get one .There is No reason to remove anything else as nothing else is in the way .
Two pins ,two screws ,pull the shaft out enough to get the Slider off , put a new slider on Preferably , (or shaft assembly which you will have to take slider off to reassemble) put it back together and your Done .

This pic is from a Japanese Site and says it is a SW5000SG and the illustrated pieces I have shown are pretty much like the one I have . The rest of the illustration is different .

The reel you have is an original, 2000/2001 Stella. Getting a part is going to be extremely difficult... even a non-Stella donor reel is unlikely to have a suitable part because the Stellas, as the flagship, seldom share parts with lower-cost reels.

Finding someone who can machine a replacement is likely going to be your best way forward, but repair cost may end up exceeding the value of the reel.

I'd help you out if I could, Henry, but I think you already know why I can't. Good luck Señor.
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)
