Well I realize that working on reels before I've fully woken up is a recipe for disaster, and while cleaning my Stradic Ci4+ 3k I accidentally put the rotor nut on before I put the rotor on. I can't get the nut off because the pinion spins the same direction the nut needs to turn to loosen. Any advice on how to get it off? Additionally, can you order replacement parts from the shimano site? I accidentally cracked idler gear b(part rd17794) and need to replace it.

Hold the nut with a wrench and spin the handle?
Any machine is a smoke machine if you use it wrong enough.

Hold the flats on the pinion (that normally interface with the rotor) with an adjustable spanner.

DON'T!!!  I've deformed Shimano pinions that way
especially later free-floating shaft design w/ "hollow chamber"
even w/ older thicker-walled pinions, I'd want a matching "sacrificial" shaft
inserted through pinion, before any serious twisting

if nut is really jammed into the pinion's incomplete, shallow, tail-end threads
CUT THE NUT!!! (cheap, ubiquitous) & SAVE THE PINION!!! (expensive, less common)

Thanks for all the tips. I'll try to turn the handle while holding the nut first, and failing that I'll have the nut cut off.
