 Like I really needed another jigmaster, but "it was too good to pass up" thing happened again. I do hafta admit the bone stock 500s jigmaster is the sexiest jigmaster ever offered.

 That's it, no more impulse jigmaster buying....

Ted, that's exactly how my very first Jigmaster looked. Your photo makes me want to put it back the way I bought it. You're right...it sure is sexy.

Hi Mike. I also upgraded one 500s and had a bit of a guilt trip for not leaving it stock. Now I feel better with them together on the shelf.

500s is my favorite jiggy, like you I find it hard to resist....Especially when they're that clean

That's a nice one . I love them , definitely my favorite Penn reel.  I have a few Jigmasters but not one 500S...

That Jiggy 500S with it's red spool and chrome bars had to really jump start the custom craze...it's my favorite stock Jigmaster.

Yes, but it wasn't a 500s. The very 1st "L" model jigmaster was a 500L, and it had silver aluminum spool. So few are out there, I believe that silver spool didn't last a full model year. The 501 with silver aluminum spool is by far the toughest one to find. Don't be fooled by aftermarket spools. Penn spools have line tie posts, while aftermarket spools do not

You'd think the intro of aluminum spool would be a big deal, but the very first 500L box says otherwise. I believe this was the very first Penn reel to get an aluminum spool.

Funny, but just 1 year prior to the 500L, Penn put sticker on a box that said 500HL. It came with a plastic spool and a metal spool(not aluminum). It can get very confusing IMG_20221005_112427202_HDR.jpg

IMO the innards on the S are the best as well. Steel main and chromed bits.
