Just cut it off and wrap on a new guide. We've discussed the steps before.

I would bet a hundred dollars that when you finish, the very first thing you'll say is "wow that was so much easier than I built it up to be in my head!"

I have a big bag of these generic guides I pulled off rods. I can send you a replacement if you can get a caliper and measure the ring diameter, and height.

For one guide you can just use 5 min epoxy. The threads appear to be black. So you can mix a dab (like pencil lead size amount) of black acrylic paint in with the epoxy (AFTER YOU MIX THE EPOXY TOGETHER NOT BEFORE) and you won't have to worry about yellowing, and you'll only have to keep it rotating for a few minutes.

All but two of my surf rods started as factory rods that I stripped and improved. Nothing to laugh at.
Any machine is a smoke machine if you use it wrong enough.

Ok I read up some on guides, is the 1st guide up from the reel seat considered the stripper guide, this guide is double foot with a diameter of 50 mm & the height is 75 mm.
