Coudn't resist this coin edge counterweight 49.  The sleeve was so corroded the post was twisting in the bridge.  Took me about an hour and a half with the blow torch and vice to get it apart.  One of the three leather washers crumbled so upgraded to Carbontex.  Any guesses as to the age?

;D It was just the bridge and sleeve I was heating up. Hey it worked!  You should do a video on how to do it the easy way ;)

Sorry, need a new phone...no part numbers, coin edge handle, nothing on reel stand.

Coin edge counterweight, Bakelite spool, and no part numbers point to the 1940s, but I'm certainly no authority. Maybe someone with more knowledge can narrow it down a bit more.

Nice to see you have brought that old reel back to life, its a pitty, you could`nt find some leather drag washers for it, to keep it true vintage, but if you intend on fishing it hard, then cabon tex is the way to go, thanks for posting, cheers Don.

Yeah if I was just going to put it on a display shelf I would find leather washers but I'm going to fish it so I need a smooth, robust drag.
