They're showing it as a joke but it's definitely a thing people did. That way they could change hands during a long fight.
Any machine is a smoke machine if you use it wrong enough.

You'll need a rod with guides wrapped in a continuous helix—-that way can change splines (typo intended) instantly during the long fight.. ;D

I'm thinking: Rod Belt for the rod butt, shoulder harness with straps that angle out and loop down under the foregrip of the rod, leaving both hands to work like a "grinder" on an America's Cup yacht?  ......Wait a minute, I just got a text message that I am banned from SOA trips... :d  - john
