Daiwa Ondine 1500 main gear shaft worn

I have a little Daiwa Ondine which needs some attention. Recently I was given one of these reel and it appeared that the bushing on the right side of the main gear was worn. The plastic bush wasn't worn but the shaft on the main gear was.

My question is.

Are the Daiwa Kaster, Laguna, Capricorn all the same main gear? I was going to try and find a spare one.

Second alternative.

I have access to a machine shop and thought of using an epoxy metal such as Devcon and build up the shaft and machine it down.

Does anyone have any experiences in this area?
