Hi, I have two Penn International 20 models. They are quite old and have the floating type drag washers. These drags are worn out. Any ideas where new drags for these can be purchased as the links I go to do not seem to list them. Also I met someone that said they can be converted to use the newer drags (non floating as in the International 20S or 30S).  If they can be converted are any other parts required?

I also have a penn 113 where the star drag backs off (becomes loose) when you start turning the handle to wind up the line when there is pressure on it (weight from the lead sinkers is enough). Any ideas whether a new set of drag washers will correct this or is the problem more complicated?

Regards,
Brian.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for that. The first link is for the 20T and I don't know if this will work in the 20? The second link is for the original drag so thankyou I can now order one.

The metal washer stack was in the correct order, however the drag washers were warn and compressed so I expect this was causing the problem because the spring washer on the outer side of the star was not puting any pressure on the star. I expect some new (thicker) washers should correct this.

Regards,
Brian.

Hi Alan:

I have bought a bunch of Penn International 20s that I want to go thru.  Are they similar to the 30s?  Could I use the 30 tutorial that you have here as a basic guide.

Thanks

J.

yes, the 20's and 30's are very similar.  compare the schematics at mysticparts.com.  you can get all the parts you need at the same time.  thanks!  alan ;D
