Ling Cod tournament...Moro Bay, CA.

Rigged and ready for 10 hour trip this Sunday out of Virg's Landing Moro Bay CA... Winner takes 50% of the total for the year!!! $1.00 per fisherman for the whole season goes into the pot ($4222.00 now)Pretty cool tournament. They have already landed up to 19+ pound Lings!!! I will at the very least have a great day on the water with my son Mike

Dam#@t Ron...I have to throw some iron with confidence somehow  I will toss the Jigmaster shallow and the Avet deep (240-) My son has the Baja & 112h W/5.0:1 gears...They are killin' it on full sized frozen squid( I have 3 trays!!!)

Yesterday they went shallow and hit 54 keeper Lings, I am hoping we can get shallow and a bit up North for some Large Reds...Freezer Special

So my son fishes with my 113HN Sunday only to have a eccentric screw come loose and render it useless for a while ( I wonder who worked on that reel!) Next Mike grabs my fresh Jigmaster 500 W/Tib frame and all the goodies...I haven't even practiced with this reel   and he  catches this :

At least I know this one works...About 1/2lb. shy of the $370 Jack Pot and no where near the fish needed for the tournament. I didn't even take a picture of my double Ling's (only 1 a keeper) as all my boyz fish were bigger

I don't feel bad!!! But next time I will leave the AVET home. I did receive some nice comments on the old Penn's from some of the other fisherman. I am fortunate that both my sons like fishing, but this one is allot like me and now a Senior and soon to be goin' to college...I will miss him something fierce.
