I'm new here and have posted a bit but haven't officially said Hi! It's only been a year in half since I picked up my first rod but needless to say I have been hooked. Recently got into saltwater fishing and stumbled on to this site and we'll let's say I was attacked by the addiction from that point on! Just wanted to post a reel that was pretty much put together by parts from Alantani.com and everything I have learned from you guys.

It's a Penn Jigmaster 500 that I converted to a "99" size reel.

Good Job Fishsticks. ;) I Have that same frame. That reel looks really good. The only thing I would change is that aluminum star. Its going to strip. Aluminum and stainless are bad bedfellows. ;D

That is one sharp looking reel, I like the color combination. Not really crazy about that aluminum star though, it looks nice, but it took one to fail on me keep them away.
Thanks for sharing.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Very nice job.
Would like to do this one myself one day, with a little stainless upgrading on the rings.

I'm keeping my Penn 99 almost original. I'm tracking a SS Bridge Sleeve because mine is worn a little & I installed SS Cross Bars. The original "99" reel seat has 3 screws & 3-1 Steel Gears.

I have not failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

I understand. Before I found this forum, my reels were basically stock. I had two 505's, converted one to 99 size. It is a pleasure to use. Enjoy it!
