Irish Wake

I've been fishing Lever Drag's for many many Years offshore and Inshore for some hard fighting fish, using all thru Penn sires LD and Shimano sires LD,,Now just Pickup a couple Avet SX 5.3 MC and MLX,,what I have done Personally and advise friends to do setting there Lever Drags is first set your Drag with a scale at the manufacture full Max lb,on Big reel I normally stay 5lb under smaller reel 2lb under,Now with full max set I will go back to free spool then back to Strike, and check to see what its reading at Strike,Normally it will be at or below manufacture strike setting, this way with a big or hard running fish you can go to Full Drag with out Damaging anything,to date never had a Problem with damage Bearing, other then normal wear,(Now these setting are the max for the Reel,) with out Damaging any Bearing,( when I'm setting my LD reels for the Tackle I'm using) then full Drag will be set at 40 to 50% of the weakest Point,as Strike will end up being about 25% of your weariest Point,,this has work for me the last 40 years my crew are fishing Machines lose a Tuna you just mite go over Board,,Hope this helps,

,Just trying to give back to the site, for all the Info and help I've Received here
