Visiting a friend today and he has a basket of penn reels, a steel 349 in original box never fished, four 113's,
A JM500, a 60 and this corroded ole 6/0, he says take it and have fun.
So"...........what to do what to do?
What would you do?

Dominick

I would grab the box and run.   :D Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

You guys are too funny.  Grab the box and run?  You saying I should go back and get the 349?  It's not going anywhere I figure I'll grab two of the 113's with the maroon side plates after I get through this one.
I think I saw a tiburon frame for this on flea bay last night too.  Time to start scrounging parts!

those good old forgotten baskets, basements storage boxes, grand pa' boxes are like treasures, always full of good things and surprises.

So many options! Places to go parts to peruse!  Scott's has AT SS gear sleeve, 3:25:1 SS gearset,  should probably get a tiburon upgrade, keta treat the dogs, I keep this up I'm gonna have to move south and get closer to the big fish.
I've been on a run converting 4/0 and 500's with narrow frame tiburon kits, this one just feels like it should remain wide?  I already had to get a second job to feed my need,  I'll take this one slow.  Order the parts Friday instead of today.

I have friends like that too.  One in particular, every time I look around his garage I find treasure.   ;)
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Bryan if it's the friend I'm thinking of we'd need a 40' container.
I think he needs a bigger garage!

Just read the 12 steps on Wikipedia -- a couple of them have to do with taking inventory -- not going there...

David, you said those reels are not going anywhere -- but sometimes those things change, if others get involved.  I might consider getting the rest of the reels, if your friend is not going to use them anymore -- then doing something nice for him -- trade something -- take them to dinner -- or whatever you think might be appropriate -- if money is not a factor.

That old 6/0 will turn out beautiful -- just stock -- you will be surprised.

Best,

I hear you Fred but I can't leave anything stock and this is no showpiece so I'll save stock for the plinth worthy reels if I ever run across them.  This ones getting a complete overhaul upgrade.   ;D

Keep us Posted David.
I agree with Fred, you need to go back and get that Basket!
I think an offer to go out to Dinner in exchange will be a fair trade. ;)
