OK so we have seen my new toy in a previous post and there's not much more BLING to do to this reel ??? Or is there? Special thanks to Sal for reaching out to help me if there were any problems...I may send it to him for final tweeks and turns  ;

The toys (BLING): 5+1 drag stack by Bryan Young...Generation II SS gear sleeve set by Alan Tani...5:1 SS gears, SS double dog bridge, SS yoke & jack by Black Pearl  ;D ... Custom SS polished crank arm with oversize gold ball handle by Fishingreel79 (eBay)

The build >:( :o ???  ;D... yes there were mixed emotions on this...It wasn't until this morning when I pulled out the stupid little spring washer I put behind the right side bearing that I figured out my binding issue in free spool...This was so close to going to Sal in a box with a bottle of Scotch  ;D ;D ;D

I put a little dab of ReelX on non drag related parts ??? It's what I have & I use PENN synthetic oil as well

Alan Tani's GEN II gear sleeve on Black Pearl's DD SS bridge  ;D

Let's do BP 5:1 gears an Bryans 5+1 drags  ;D ;D ;D

All greased up and installed as per Bryan's instructions..NOTE this set gets Alan Tani's CF & SS washer as per the GEN II gear sleeve set:

All surfaces get a light coating of PENN precision reel grease

Ready for line and fishing  ;D ;D ;D

I have a slight issue with this gear set under load..A bit sticky & grindy (if that's a word) Sal say's it is better with the custom spacer and I will take him at his word on that. This will get a custom gear sleeve spacer & most likely a tweekin' by Sal

Nice build Big Tim - Your pics are nice and sharp .

Bryan Young

Very nice.

Bob, if you look at this picture, you wil see that Tim grounded down the little 1/16" edge of the gear sleeve to make the system work.

We will have that resolved during the next run of gear sleeves.

So the current gear sleeves are not being sold as the next generation gear sleeves., and the next generation will not be available until these are gone.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

Does not get any better than that, Tim.

Perfect work!

Bryan, Alan sent the gear sleeve as it's shown. Credit to Alan, not me. Thanks for the nice comments.

This is basically what I had in mind for my next build.  Though personally I think I like the gold accurate handle with this reel.  I might also try a tiburon alum high capacity spool.  Been wondering about the new stock stars as well.  I think the SS sleeve and Sal's Delron spring on top might be worth a look as well.  O yea..I have a 4:1 AT set for mine.

Great work!

One beautiful build. Your grandson will catch fish with that reel when you are gone.

I love builds like this! Great work and yes the spacer is a MUST on the 5:1 gears. The spacer sometimes need to be modified to fit accuplates though.

i have coarse and fine thread jigmaster gear sleeves with the flat faces cut ALMOST to the ratchet gear.  there is still a "bump" that is about 3-5 thousanths of an inch high.  i ground away the bump with the cutting wheel of a dremel and shipped the gear sleeve down to tim with a metal and carbon fiber "gen II" set.   the jigmaster set will be formally introduced with the next run of gear sleeves that are cut properly.

Nice, this means I have one of the first GEN II jigmaster gear sleeve sets. I'm sure it will work well

Nice reel! Project came out great, will this one be able to compete in the Vintage Penn Challange?
I don't know how to do everything, but I know how to get everything done.
