I bought a 200 Surf master and decided to mag it today - was going to attach the magnets to the non handle side but would have had to make up a set of spacers to attach the magnets so I decide to attach them to the bridge - made the magnet plate out of a pellet tin lid cut the shape I wanted and glued it to the bridge with 5 min epoxy glue - now I can add or remove magnets in seconds with no need to even take the spool out .

Plate cut to shape.

Plate glued on and magnets attached .

All ready to go .

Enjoy

Nice.   What is the high vis line on the reel?  I use Berkley Solar Collector on my trolling reels.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Always a great tip, thanks Matt, I really like it.
Yes John, I remember you wanting to use the bridge plate as well, I actually tried it on Black Pearl's custom bridge, but the magnet wouldn't hold too good on that type of stainless steel. I also remember you mentioning the riveted gear sleeve post on the brass bridge, but that one wouldn't work due to clearance.

Thank Matt, great job.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Thanks Sal - I don't see any reason why you couldn't mag the 500 the same way and ive heard of guys using magnet's out of pc hard drives .The ones im using are rare earth 6mm X 2mm and the plate glued on with 5min Araldite .
