OK guys, these are two of the surprise reels I found when cleaning out Dad's boat. Don't know anything about them. I am confident that some one here does. Just trying to find out the makes and models, the year (if possible), are they any good and if they have any value. Thanks.                                                Richy

Hi Captain --

Number 1, the tan one is for sure a Daiwa from the 80s.  There were a few sizes of these -- this looks like a 7250.  Good little reel.  This one has been used extensively in the salt -- and I doubt it is worth repairing.  If you decide you want one of these, I have some good examples -- and you can have one at N/C.

The second one is likely a Shakespeare -- or a Japanese clone from the 70s. The company made these for other retailers such as Sears -- and they were relabled as such.  This somehow reminds me of a Asian copycat.  The country of origin should be on the bottom of the foot -- if not corroded over.

Neither are valuable reels -- but they are good performing reels from the "Golden Age of Spinners" -- 70s/80s -- when prices were reasonable -- and quality was metallic with a ball bearing main.

Best,

Fred

I didn't even get done reading Richy's post and I could hear you typing Fred, lol.  Good job.
I woke today and suddenly nothing happened.

Yes I believe they are both made in Japan. I've seen many of those over the years.

Hey Fred, I figured you would be all over this post before anyone else. Thank you for the info on these reels cause I've never seen them before. They were definitely salt water used but they both still spin like butter with those ball bearing mains. Thank you also for the free reel offer but not necessary. I have more reels now then I could ever use. Thanks again.
