Welcome Paul!

It's your fault that im hooked on penn 750ss/850ss reels lol with your trying
to get a 650ss main gear in to a 6500ss lol, it's were it all
started. Tip my end don't put grease on the bearing's, few drops
of red rocket fuel (oil), you will feel a huge difference on retrieve.

My 750ss is all original (original brass main gear, basically bran new),
reel was only used 4-5 times (black handle, with pyramid knob handle)

850ss with chrome handle/pyramid knob handle posted from usa to me in uk today so
fingers crossed.

The 750ss is heaven to cast on the beach with my beach caster, i even
was able to fully grease it and oil it with ease, thanks to all of you guys.

Yea, that is on the back burner. I gave up on it. I was thinking of swapping a 650 case to get it to work, but I think its more trouble than its worth. The reel is fine as it is. you have any 9500's yet? ;)

Holy mama 9500ss, had 2 of them yonks ago, to big, but great reels,
can't wait to get the 850ss opener up and give her a good service.

750ss is a dream of a reel and so easy to cast with and use.

I would keep the 6500 as is, i agree, keep the 650 as is also and buy
a 750ss and you will forget all about it lol.

I agree they are all great reels in there own right, absolute
quality build.

Daron we need to talk lol.

Very nice collection indeed, i am not worthy.

Fisherman Paul

Daron here is a question about the 650ss,750ss and 850ss
reels i can't get the answer too, hopefully you or one of the other
guys on here can clear up as it's frying my head a bit.

On the closed bearing cap some reels have a red dot in dead center,
and some of a gold/yellow dot dead center.

Question is does it mean anything, thank you for the time on this.

Fisherman Paul

Daron, the part you need to make the 650ss main gear fit in to your 6500ss
to be finally complete is 1 thing, a special sized bearing.

17mm OD
8mm ID
5mm Deep

That's it.

On memory he believes this to be correct.

My 6500ss and 750ss both have red dots, 850ss with chrome handle
has gold/yellow dot on both the handle and closed bearing cap,
seen pictures of 850ss with red dots, hmm.

Left bearing info for you above, hope it helps.

Fisherman Paul

Hi Daron, means nothing as the red dots are on the 6500ss,
7500ss, 8500ss and the 9500ss, in my eyes it's all about
the main gear anyways, finding an original 750ss with basically
a bran new original brass gear (with drive screw) was a great
find, bit like a 20+ year old car with 50 miles on the clock.

850ss is in transit from the states as we speak, should arrive with
me next friday/saturday so il undo the closed bearing cap
and hopefully il see the drive screw staring at me, if not all
is not lost as i can get all the original parts for it.
