Fisherman Paul

Hi guy's, i wanted to buy some penn ss reels (650ss, 750ss 6500ss etc)
and i first knew nothing but after a good few weeks of coming on
here and reading all your knowledge i now am hooked on those
penn reels, so much i bought a penn 750ss, used only 4-5 times
and when i opened her up and saw that new, beautiful (easy now Paul lol)
(original) marine brass gear (with the screw grooves going all the way
to the lip ;)) i couldn't believe my look.

I also bought a 6500ss, nice reel but there is just something about
that 750ss (original) that just ticks all the boxes.

I use it for beach fish and guys i would like to repay you for so much
knowledge in kind regarding the bail arm problem some guys have
on it closing, i have cast (5oz lead) well over 160 yards on both reels
many times now and on both the 6500ss and the 750ss the bail arm
doesn't even move or flinch let alone close, hope what i am going to say
helps.

Before you cast make sure the spool is down, in that i mean when
you turn the handle the spool goes up and then it comes down, well
before you cast always make sure it is down, few mil up is ok but
no more (think about it), also when you turn the bail arm over
make sure it sits around about an inch or so from that nipple that
clicks it back in place (get in to the habit though of closing it manually).

Last part of this is to cast at 1 o'clock and let the rod do the work,
i see so many guys thrashing at it thinking they will go further WRONG,
load the rod, look up to the sky (not straight out or down) nor straight up lol,
but bit like a cannon ready to fire, you will one cast further even with a plug
a lot further and that bail arm will never move let alone close.

Rant over lol.

There is nothing like lying flat on your back on the deck, alone except for the helmsman aft at the wheel, silence except for the lapping of the sea against the side of the ship. At that time you can be equal to Ulysses and brother to him.

Thanks Guys, i won an open yesterday so well chuffed, and you
guessed it with my 25 year old 750ss reel.

Very weedy, had 30 undersized fish but had 6 good
size keepers, plaice and flounders.

Lovely shield too.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.
