Godzone Fishing

An old school friend of mine has started a fishing magazine called Fishing in Godzone . He came up at the end of last week to go out wide with me to target Bluenose and Hapuka (wreckfish) and Bass. As you would expect when you need the fish to bite they won't. He bought along the new Shimano Plays electric reel to try and we managed to hook a nice Gemfish and I got a double of Dogfish. The weather was very changeable and from the Southwest. not a good wind for Northland New Zealand. We moved in to shallower waters but the fishing got worse with only one sea perch landed. We then came right back and fished in 30foot of water with plenty of burley and chum cubes in hope of getting a nice snapper to get pics for the Magazine. No dice hardly a bite. I eventually landed a nice Pigfish and a 35cm snapper but they were not Photo worthy. LUcky we have great scenery and a couple of Albatross that followed us around.
