Can anyone here explain why everol might be using rod braces (front and/or rear) with thier new reels while no other manufacturer uses them on reels all the way up to 130 size?

I know it alleviates stress on the reel seat and foot depending on how your operating it, just seems strange they use them and no one else does.

I really think they do it just because of past practice. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Everol is one of few companies that still make all their products and haven't outsourced to make a buck.
On my 18/0, I was surprised the stand is the same on a 14/0. Only four small stainless screws bolt it to the frame.
The stand is not very big compared to the reel.
It will give me some peace of mind when fishing it with 200lb test.
As long as they are not overtightened, they work quite well. This set had never been on the reel and I see how they are supposed to work now.

What size butt is that and do you have much play in the reel seat? Those stands are quite strong, it's surprising.
