Chris,
Hit some of the lure collection sites and search box restoration,  Those folks go crazy over the correct boxes
with lots of fixit info and techniques.

Finally got my Penn Senator 10/0 for my collection.

Real happy with it.

That just leaves the big boy, the 16/0 to complete it.
Buy it nice or buy it twice.

Bought another Long Beach 65 yesterday off the Book of Face for $30.

I bought it because it's the trolling model.

I already had the casting version.

It's cap is 75 yards less and it's spool is an 1/8" wider on the trolling version.

Pretty cool, I'm happy with it but it didn't come with a catalog, wrench, or oil tube.

There's nothing wrong with a few "F's" on your record....Food, Fun, Flowers, Fishing, Friends, and Fun....to name just a few !

Well today was like Christmas Day at my place.

My Penn 259 Live Bait Caster came, Penn Mag Pro 890 came, Mag Pro parts for my 980 came, and last but not least my two vintage boxes came today as well.

The 980 needs a spool but I have a line on one...finally.

Love them all!

The 259 is a sharp little reel and my first true yellow handle of the collection. The side plate art is unique as well.

Just cleaned and lubed everything.

Had to use a life line to set the dog on the 980. Thanks Jason and Sheridan!

It's garage sale season again!

Found this little Model 85 speckled side plates, I believe the official term in Motted(?).

Anyway, it has a very strong clicker, free spools for days, the drag works, and other than green fuzz it's in really good shape.

It's soaking now.

Not bad for $10.

How old do you think it is Sheridan?

Don't see the red handles too often.

I don't know how old it is, they made those for many years. The color of the handles is pretty random and not helpful in dating them. If you have the box you can narrow it down some

Another day another Book of Face find, except this sale had unique location, Folsom State Prision.

The guy actually lives a couple 100 yards from the worse people on earth in like Military style housing. I had to cleared through a gate and completely searched when I left.

But it was worth it. I bought the two reels pictured, a Senator 113HL and Jigmaster 500 for $10 each.

Other than being dusty they are in great condition.

I think I'm up to five JM 500's now... :o

The 113HL will soon be "modified".

Look to be in pretty good shape!  Quite an experience to get them bought, though!!

Awesome gotta love that deal!
Best part is you came back out in one piece!
I've had some super shady stuff happen to me with dealings on the book of two faces!
Think Randy has a kit posted for that Senator to narrow it for $80

That area is known as Represa.  A little history.

When FSP (Folsom State Prison) was built in 1880 it was so far out in the back country the prison guards built shacks on prison grounds to sleep in. This evolved into the prison building houses that staff could rent.  Currently there is a waiting list to rent a house.  Inside they built the O&G (Officer and Guard) building that's 3 stories tall. This was the wardens and top management residence with a view of the recreation yard.

At the front gate, where you checked in, there was a female deer that was fed by the C/O's. Inmates on the out grounds crew would drop off, daily, 2 boxes of single serve cereal and cut apples from the main kitchen.  She lived to be an estimated 16 years old. She was eventually euthanized due to deteriorating health by Cal Fish and Game.  Her fawns still visit for their daily snacks.  There is also a large population of turkey and Canadian geese.

It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!
