What is size tap to use to rethread gear sleeve to accept Handle assembly screw.  It's messed up and I don't want to mess it up more by forcing it.

not sure what size tap you would need.  it might even be a non-standard thread.  it's a fine thread for sure, so it will be tough to re-tap.  you would likely be better off replacing.

Got a response from Penn, in case anybody wants to know 9/32 by 32.  You were right a non standard fine thread.

send me a pm if you want a new gear sleeve and handle nut.  i have stainless steel which is not necessary, and i also have some used brass ones that are in great condition.

If you are interested in upgrading this reel at all, get Alan stainless sleeve! It makes the reel so much nicer to use.
