Reel 224

I have a question about mag 10 bearing adjustment. The Penn owners manual suggests you adjust the left side bearing so that you can take up the excessive end play. I find the left side adjustment does nothing to the side play without adjusting the right side bearing along with it. In other words, I can adjust the right side bearing coup down so is tight and then start adjusting the left side bearing until I get some side play; I have to turn it all the way out and still no side play. I'm stumped, any suggestions would be appreciated.

The right side bearing is used to center the spool in the frame.  if tightening down does not cause any binding of the spool with the left sideplate, you may tighten down on the right side bearing cup.  Not sure about any gaps between the spool and the frame that may be the result either.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D
