Attached is a picture of a friends reel that is in need of repair.  I posted this ditto with more info in the Ambassadeur Question and Tutitorial page here as well,  I cant find out much about this model reel,  It was still in use when I offered to help.  Maybe I cant even help myself!

Is this thing rare,  can I remove the right end plate, and how,  suggestions on Amb. Parts?
Any help would be appreciated,   Please see the tutor post as well.     thanks!  gst.

It's like many other Ambassadeur reels. Remove the handle, any clips, friction washer and drag star. then remove the two bridge screws on the outside of the plate. You should then be able to lift the plate off to get to the internals.

If you need to remove the left side plate, remove the spool from the frame. Look inside of the left side plate and you'll see two screws. Remove those and the left side plate will be free.

The 6600 size of the ProMax reel is relatively scarce, but I wouldn't call it rare. Parts are available from Abu. Schematic is here:http://s7d5.scene7.com/is/content/purefishing/Abu%20Garcia/Schematics/PROMAX6600W%200300.pdf

I have a 3600 ProMax and it is a sweet little reel.

Hope this helps!

Yep, I have had the same 6600 reel since the early 1990's and it has held up well. The above directions are perfect and these reels are a bit of a nesting puzzle that you have to figure out.

Be sure to get the line off of there and check the spool for corrosion.

One other small caveat - if you remove the left side plate, take care when re-installing it. It's perfectly symmetrical so it's possible to put it back upside down.
Don't ask me how I know this. ;D

Hey I want to give those who replyed to my questions a special thanks,  Ive gotten the endplate off and with the hard to find schematics you provided me the parts are ordered.    Merry Christmas to all and good fishing!    gst.
