501 project

First post so I figured I'd put up my new project.

Took a decent looking 500, stuck a Tib P21 frame and Newell spool in it. Replaced all internals with the Pro Challenger kit, including the drag sleeve along with the double dog bridge and 5:1 gears. Added Bryan's 5+1 kit, an annodized drag star to match the frame, and new power grip from Pro Chalkenger.

Hoping to put it to use chasing local yellows and WSB on the dripper loop and yoyo

Very nice indeed.....and welcome aboard.

I see the star is anodized aluminum. I would be leery of the soft aluminum threads on the steel gear sleeve, especially if you plan on cranking down the drag.

Not SD, but up in OC.

Ted, thanks for the headsup on the star. I kept the original. I dont plan on cranking it down to get 15+lbs, but I'll take note to keep an eye on it
