I am not a very good fisherman, but I enjoy it. Like many of us, I enjoy finding old reels, fixing them up, and fishing them. I had a couple of trips this week with old gear.

Over the weekend, I took two of my teenage sons to Assateague National Seashore to fish and camp. I took mostly old reels and new rods. Reels were Shakespeare 2091A and 2081A, Penn Jigmaster, 704, 710, 710Z, 650SS. Our goal was Bluefish, Striper, and Black Drum. We caught a lot of bait, Kingfish aka whiting, spot, and croaker. We also caught a skate and a stingray.  We also had our worst trip for biting black flies. Still, it was a good trip.

Yesterday I had time between work appointments to fish a lake I rarely fish. I targeted Carp and panfish. With my Shakespeare 2062, a slip bobber and tiny jig, I caught a lot of Bluegills and a crappie. I had two carp hits, one hookup. It took my line into rocks. I had to break it off. That was with the Pflueger Alpine 2655. This is a direct drive levelwind reel, with a leather pad as a drag. I'll eventually catch a carp on this primitive reel.

That's a huge one. Those spade fish are delicious.  They feed exclusivy on invertebrates around the pilings.  Where-the-heck are you?

I just realized that guy caught a baby cobia.  Thought it was a gaff-top at first look.

Looks like he might be tagging it in the first photo.

The flounder & cobia, are nice eating, if you get a cobia, over 12Kg, its unbelievable how strong they are, thanks for posting, keep well , cheers Don.
